A gym chatbot answers the questions that come before a membership: How much is it? What classes do you run on Saturdays? Can I try a session first? Is there parking? InstantKnowledgeBot builds it from your studio's own price list and schedule, and when a visitor is keen, it offers to book a free trial.

What do people ask a gym or fitness studio?

Whether you run a big gym, a boutique studio, a yoga or Pilates studio, a climbing wall or a martial arts school, the questions repeat:

  • Memberships and prices: options, contract terms, joining fees, student or family rates.
  • Classes: what you offer, levels and what to expect in a first class.
  • Schedule: class times and opening hours.
  • Trainers: who they are and their specialties.
  • Facilities: showers, lockers, parking, childcare, equipment.
  • Policies: cancellation, freezing a membership, guest passes, age limits.
  • Trials: whether there's a free class or intro offer.

The fitness template's starter questions are "How much is a membership?", "What classes do you offer?", "Can I try a free class?" and "What are your opening hours?".

How does the chatbot stay away from health advice?

People often ask fitness businesses health questions. The template instructs the bot:

  • Don't give medical, injury or nutrition advice.
  • For injuries, pregnancy or health conditions, suggest checking with a doctor and speaking with a trainer.
  • Be energetic and encouraging, and invite interested visitors to book a trial or leave their details.

And like every InstantKnowledgeBot bot, it answers only from your documents. If a visitor asks about a class you don't run, it says so rather than guessing.

How does a gym chatbot turn visitors into trial sign-ups?

The fitness preset of lead capture shows a "Book your free trial" form when a visitor sounds interested, asking for email, name and phone, with the prompt "Leave your details and we'll get you booked in for a free session." If you don't offer free trials, change the title and prompt to match your intro offer.

Each lead is emailed to you with the last few messages of the chat, so whoever calls back knows the person asked about, say, beginner boxing on weekday evenings. Leads also sit in your dashboard pipeline (new, contacted, qualified, won, lost). Lead capture is on Pro and Agency, and during the free 14-day Pro trial. See how to set up chatbot lead capture and lead generation chatbots.

What should a fitness studio upload?

  1. Membership options and prices, including contract terms.
  2. Class descriptions with levels.
  3. Timetable, or a link to your live booking page if it changes daily.
  4. Trainer bios.
  5. Facilities and opening hours.
  6. Policies: cancellation, freezing, guest passes, age requirements.

Upload PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, CSV, HTML or JSON, or paste text. The template includes a checklist and starter FAQ.

Where should a gym put its chatbot?

  • Website: paste the chat bubble snippet once in your site footer. Studio sites on Squarespace, Wix or WordPress all support it; see the Squarespace guide.
  • Front desk and flyers: print the bot's QR code so people can ask questions on their phone.
  • Instagram and TikTok bios: use the share link.

How do you measure what members want?

The overview shows top questions and knowledge gaps, the questions your documents couldn't answer. If people keep asking about a late-night class or a student discount, that's useful product feedback for the studio, not just the bot.

What does a good gym chatbot conversation look like?

Here's the kind of exchange the fitness template is designed for, using information from a studio's own documents:

Visitor: Do you have beginner classes in the evening? I haven't worked out in years.

Bot: Welcome back to training! Our Foundations class is designed for beginners and runs Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Coaches show modifications for every move, so you can go at your own pace. Would you like to try a free session?

Visitor: Yes please. Also, I have a bad knee. Is that a problem?

Bot: I can't give medical advice, so it's best to check with your doctor first and mention your knee to the coach before class. They can suggest alternatives. Leave your details below and we'll book your free session.

Notice three things: the answer uses the studio's real class name and times, the health question is handled with care instead of advice, and the trial form appears when the visitor says yes. (The class name and times above are an example; your bot uses whatever your documents say.)

How do multi-location gyms handle different schedules?

If your locations have different timetables, prices or facilities, you have two options:

  • One bot per location, each with its own documents and its own embed code on that location's page. Visitors never see the wrong timetable. Paid plans include multiple bots.
  • One bot for the brand, with documents clearly labelled by location ("Downtown timetable", "Riverside timetable"). Add an extra instruction such as "If the visitor hasn't said which location, ask before giving times."

The first is simpler to keep accurate; the second is easier to manage if your locations are nearly identical.

Frequently asked questions

Can the gym chatbot book classes?

It doesn't connect to booking software. It shares your booking link from the knowledge base and, with lead capture, collects name, email and phone for a free trial so your team can book it.

Does it give workout or diet advice?

No. The fitness template tells the bot not to give medical, injury or nutrition advice, and to suggest checking with a doctor and speaking with a trainer for injuries, pregnancy or health conditions.

How do I keep the class schedule up to date?

Replace the schedule document in the dashboard when it changes. The live bot updates immediately. For schedules that change daily, link to your booking page instead.

Can members use it from a QR code at the front desk?

Yes. Every bot has a share link and a downloadable QR code you can print for the front desk, lockers or flyers.

Is there a free plan for a small studio?

Yes. The free plan includes 1 bot and 100 hosted AI messages a month, or unlimited messages with your own AI key.
